Mold Contamination

MOLD SURVEY/SAMPLING

Molds are part of our everyday natural environment. Mold plays a part in nature by breaking down dead organic matter such as fallen leaves and dead trees. Indoor mold growth should be avoided. Molds reproduce by means of tiny spores; the spores are invisible to the naked eye and float through outdoor and indoor air. Mold may begin growing indoors when mold spores land on surfaces that are moist. There are many types of mold, and none of them will grow without water or moisture.

Temperature, humidity and a food source causes mold to grow anywhere. Mold exposure affects individuals in different ways. Some individuals show no effects what so ever, while others the exposure can be catastrophic.  Some symptoms of mold exposure can range from respiratory to neurological conditions and can even shut down the immune system.

Surveying the property, both outside and inside and collecting mold samples is the only way to determine the type of mold and the proper remediation that should be performed.  When a mold survey/sampling is performed by 5 Star Environmental Services, the surveyor does a through survey of the subject property to determine which samples should be taken and sent to a certified laboratory to determine which species of mold is present and the concentration levels of each type mold. Mold samples that are sent to a certified laboratory, results are usually received within 48 hours. The entire laboratory report is forwarded to you along with the surveyor’s MOLD SURVERY/SAMPLING REPORT, which includes the surveyor’s recommendations for the proper mitigation process to make your living/work environment a healthier place to live in.  The total fee for this service is determined by the total number of laboratory samples that is needed (3 laboratory samples are included in the initial fee).
